Immigration Counseling Services News & Announcements

Come Kick Up Your Shoes for a Good Cause!

If you are concerned about the challenges immigrants face in our community, here is an opportunity for you to do something to help - something tangible, positive and fun!  Please join us for an upcoming benefit concert for Immigration Counseling Service (ICS) to be held on Sunday, September 24, 2017, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the St. Andrew's Community Center at 806 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211. All donations received will directly support the critical work of ICS.  Before the event, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM, ICS staff members will provide free information and advice to our immigrant community members seeking legal services, as well as members of the community interested in immigrant rights.
For those who are able, a suggested donation of $20 will be made at the door, but no one will be turned away!  Everyone is welcome and all contributions are valued and appreciated, regardless of the amount you can give.
ICS is Oregon’s oldest non-profit legal services organization providing critical assistance to our local community’s immigrants, victims of human trafficking and unaccompanied children, to ensure their legal rights and representation. ICS was founded in 1978 by a longtime community advocate, Margaret Godfrey.  Over the years, ICS has provided legal assistance to thousands of individuals in Oregon from over 90 countries around the world.  Nearly 40 years later, ICS continues Margaret’s legacy, with a mission of strengthening Oregon’s communities by providing legal assistance to its most vulnerable members.

Still Kickin', a local recreational band that includes two ICS board members - will perform their eclectic mix of folk, blues and rock music. Together for 13 years, this 7-piece band plays cover hits by The Beatles, Peter Paul and Mary, Bonnie Raitt, Alison Kraus, John Haitt, Dolly Parton, John Sebastian, the Everly Brothers, Steve Earle and many more. We guarantee their original interpretations and arrangements will cause your feet to tap and your spirits to lift!
So join us for light refreshments and a good time for a good cause. You'll feel better for it. Feel free to invite your friends, and RSVP on Facebook on our event page.
